To open up a terminal (DOS prompt for you windows users) Press ALT + F2 and type xterm.
In that window type these commands.

sudo mkdir /media/windows
sudo mount /dev/hda1 /media/windows/ -t ntfs -o nls=utf8,umask=0222
Windows Partition is now mounted read only.</description>
